Today's Topics

This week, we dive into how Americans perceive the honesty and ethical standards of some of the nation’s most popular professions, the Red40 ban and how it impacts some of the largest snack food suppliers, and best rated fast food restaurants based on Yelp reviews as of 2025

.

Charts To Expect:

- How Americans View The Morality of Professions
- Product Impact of the Red40 Ban
- The Best Rated Fast Food Restaurant In Each State

Gallup’s latest poll shows how Americans view the honesty and ethics of various professions, with ratings staying near historic lows. Nurses remain the most trusted profession, with 75% of respondents ranking their honesty as “very high” or “high.” Grade-school teachers (61%), military officers (61%), and pharmacists (58%) follow closely. Medical doctors, while still trusted by a majority (53%), have seen their ratings drop 14 points since 2021, hitting their lowest level since the mid-1990s.

At the other end of the spectrum, lobbyists, members of Congress, and TV reporters rank at the bottom. Over half of Americans believe these professions have “low” or “very low” ethics. Judges (29%) and clergy (33%) have also seen trust slip over time, with clergy experiencing a significant 26-point drop since the early 2000s.

The chart offers a snapshot of how trust varies across professions. Healthcare and education maintain relatively strong trust, but politics, media, and business-related roles face widespread doubt.

This decline in trust highlights larger concerns about accountability and transparency across institutions. Fields that rely heavily on public confidence—like healthcare, education, and the judiciary—must find ways to restore their credibility. Otherwise, the growing gap between the most and least trusted professions may continue to reflect deeper systemic issues.
